National Wormhole Day

The National Wormhole Day Bloghop is made possible by Stephen Tremp, Laura Eno, and L.G. Smith (gotta love having an L.G. involved!).  This hop was designed as a celebration of Albert Einstein's birthday, and I agree this is a most worthy thing to celebrate!

Here are the details!

What would you do or where would you go if you could traverse a wormhole through space or time just once? One safe round trip passage. Would you go back in time and talk some sense into a younger you? Go five years into the future and bring back the Wall Street Journal? See just how the heck the Great Pyramids of Giza were really built? View what the other side of the universe looks like? Kill Hitler?

This is another quick and easy Blog Hop. Since we are all busy, take a moment to tell the world a few moments, and in 100 words more or less, what you would do if you had a two-way ticket to traverse a wormhole. This is my way of getting people excited about all the amazing stuff on the horizon that we as a race are on the cusp of discovering!

While it would be amazing to go back in time and witness history firsthand, I think I'd have to choose a journey into the future.  It would be tempting to grab the lottery numbers for next week's drawing, but I'd probably travel about a hundred years into the future.  I want to see where the human race is heading. Do we actually kick our space program into gear and start exploring?  (If we haven't, I may have to kick some butt while I'm at it.)  Are we on our way to remedying injustice, prejudice, and poverty?

Where would you go?

  1. I appreciate the thought of wanting to go into the future, especially seeing this is a round trip deal. It is an act of a true humanitarian.

If I'm speaking honestly, I think I might travel back to the 50s or early 60s, only because life seems so much more simple and wholesome. I long for those qualities now in this life. I think I would make a superb housewife, but in these modern times nobody seems to appreciate that quality in a woman anymore.

  3. Kick their butt, LG! Tell them you were expecting Star Trek.

  4. Resisting the urge to grab the winning lotto numbers. Wait, if I win I could fund the space program! Aww, the sweet sound of justification.

  5. You wouldn't like the future I write about...it's all post-apocalyptic dark ages stuff. :P

But I don't really think that's how the future will go. Er, at least I hope not. I'm hoping technology and innovation will save our butts. Imagine the changes a hundred years would bring. Fascinating stuff to think about.

  6. I'm hopeful, but I think some of that 'kicking butt' to the space program will have to take place for it to be realized.

Humans can be a little slow to catch on.

  9. Hopefully, one day the human race will be able to get along, and all of those things will be banished. It is going to take this generation and those upon us to get the ball rolling!

  11. We should start kicking button now. We should be so much farther along. Thanks for participating!

  12. While it could be interesting to witness a piece of history, I would probably use it for something selfish. Like warn my younger self to not marry my first wife and buy a winning lotto ticket while I was there...and buy stock in Apple.

Dropping by from A to Z Challenge. This will be my first year participating.

  13. It would be neat to see what happens with the space program. I'd like to know what we discover 100 years from now in that regard too.

  14. Sounds like a plan! :)

  15. Good thinking. But if the space program is on the back burner 100 years from now, maybe you could make a brief stop a week in the future on the way back home. Having those winning lottery numbers might give you a little more latitude in kicking butts into gear. Money talks. Or so I hear. Mine never says a word.

  16. If society still had this much poverty, and if it was still reliant on gasoline, I would knock some heads. It would be interesting to see where we stood in 100 years though.

  17. It would be cool to see what our future will be like. I hope it's closer to utopia than dystopia, though.

  18. Good idea...let's see how techy we are compared to now! I'm with ya!

  19. Part of me thinks it might be scary to go forward in time - what if you found something truly horrible?

  20. I think I'd only want to know the future if it was good. If it's bad then the rest of this life is going to kind of suck because it'll seem all for nothing, you know?
