Monday Musings

I'm going to try to meet with my muse when my youngest takes his afternoon nap. She's still a little miffed by the definitive lack of work done last week.  I did write the final installment of my serialized story last week, but a piece of fiction less than 1,000 words long wasn't enough to impress her.  I know I need to do more, but holiday weeks are always strange that way.

For now I will outline my goals for the week.  Hopefully going into our meeting with goals in hand will help appease Pleiades.  If not, at least having them prepared should shorten deliberations.

I need to brainstorm ideas for my Friday flash fiction early in the week.  I got so used to adding on to the same story that this is going to be a definite shift in gear for me.  I will try to have ideas in hand and start writing it by Thursday morning at the latest.

I also must get back to my editing.  When my editing is not going as planned and I feel like I can't achieve what I need to do, I will not give up in a huff and turn to episodes of Star Trek TNG on Netflix to make me feel better.  Instead I will turn to one of my short story ideas I've been mulling over in my head.  Failures on one project will only turn me temporarily to another.  This way, I will at least be accomplishing something.

I will use social media to communicate, but not to distract.  It's so easy to get lost in Facebook.  This mustn't happen to me this week.  I need to get back on track.

I will get back on track.

Now, I just need Pleiades to cooperate.

Hmmmmmmm . . . . . . . . .

  1. Very smart, going to another project when you're feeling stuck on your current one. At least you're in motion!

  2. I agree... when you're stuck on something, you should work on something new and then revisit it later on down the road.. The answers will come! Good luck with your writing goals and sounds like Pleiades needs to take a chill pill! :) LOL!
