Celebrate the Small Things-October 4, 2013

It's Friday, and that means it's time to Celebrate the Small Things with VikLit!

This week I'm celebrating the fact that we still have warm weather in October. That isn't something you can count on where I live, and I'm enjoying it.  We're still reaching the low to mid 80's during the day.  Living in Iowa, that isn't the sort of thing you can typically expect.  Then again, in Iowa, I don't think any kind of weather can be considered typical.

My son Jude had a good day in preschool yesterday.  He guessed the number of the day, and he was named the counting champion for the day.  I just can't help but feel proud of him.

I also had a good time on Sunday.  One of my good friends is pregnant with her second child, and she had an awesome baby shower.  It was good to see some old friends, eat some good food, and celebrate a new addition to my friend's family.  I also won a prize when I came closest to guessing how many M&Ms were in a baby bottle.  Overall, it was a good time.

What would you like to celebrate?

  1. We started to cool down here but it's been warm the past few days. I like it better when the nights are in the fifties or lower.

  2. Still warm here in Indiana, too, but cool at night. Perfect sleeping weather, just like Alex says. :)

It's always great to celebrate the small things, but in reality, I'd consider time connecting with friends, celebrations of birth-to-come, and taking joy from our children's development pretty big things. The connections to family, friends, and our children are actually the MOST important things, I think -- these are the things we never regret on our deathbeds. Instead it's usually the time spent chasing possessions and career and money that we wish we could get back...

So it sounds to me like you got your life's priorities right, my friend! :)

  3. Congrats to the clever dude, Jude! :) And I long for cooler days here in Dubai. I hate the heat.

  4. It sounds like you've had a great week! It's still warm here too, but I'm longing for cold weather to hit. Autumn and winter are my favourite seasons, and they're late!
