Celebrate the Small Things-June 27, 2014

It's Friday!  Let's Celebrate the Small Things with VikLit!

I'm proud to be a co-host for this weekly blogging event.  The other co-hosts are:

Diana Wilder
Katie @ TheCyborg Mom
CaffeMaggieato @ mscoffeehouse

This week I'm celebrating the progress I've made with edits for my WIP.  Editing has never been my favorite activity, and I tend to agonize over it.  I tend to second guess every choice I've made, and that is not a pleasant state of affairs. This time, however, I think I've been keeping this tendency in check.  We'll see how it goes from here.

We had a productive day last Saturday.  We got the yardwork done, and we cleaned out both of our cars.  Not only did we throw away all the pieces of garbage that had accumulated, but we also vacuumed out the interiors and took them both to the carwash.  At the end, they were squeaky clean.  Our kids, of course, kept trying to run through the spray as we worked, and it was hilarious. After that, we grilled out and took the kids to the park.

What would you like to celebrate?

  1. Nothing like a clean car!
Just edit to the best of your abilities. That's all you can do.

  2. Isn't it a great feeling to clean out stuff?

  3. Congrats on the progress you've made, and good luck with the rest of your edits.
I should probably take a leaf out of your book, my car needs a good clean on the inside and the outside.

  4. Yay for your busy and successful day! Yes, like you I agonize over every word, line and paragraph during revisions. I try everything 50 ways to see how I like it better. But I don't call that "second guessing" - I call it gut instinct, and when my instincts tell me something's not quite right, they're rarely wrong.

  5. We all have too much stuff. I have been shredding - still hesitate to do so with the old filed pink slips (some of you might remember the days of queries and rejections...wasn't that fun. NOT!) Much happier now that we are in control. Albeit, the yardwork still needs to be done, I agree.

  6. Congrats on making progress with your edits! I do the same thing, trying to find the best word, phrase, sentence, etc. Sometimes it's enough to make one crazy. It's great that you got so much work done, too. My car could use a good cleaning. One of these days...

  7. It always amazes me how much stuff accumulates in a car.

  8. At our local supermarket, we have a flock of Polish guys who will give your car a hand wash and clean the inside, too, for a little extra. So, I know it's lazy, but I leave my car with them while I do my shopping and when I come back it's as good as new.

  9. Glad to hear the edits are going well. It's always nice to get into a clean car - amazing what stuff accumulates in them isn't it?

  10. Way to kick up your edits! Just wait till that shiny new draft is done - it'll be worth it.
