A Personal Update

Hey everyone. I'm just posting a quick personal update to let all of you know why I probably won't be posting on my blog for a week or two. My dad passed away this week. I'm sure you can all understand why I need to take some time to focus on personal matters right now.

I plan to be back on here by the beginning of August, so I won't be gone for too long. Until then, take care!

Celebrate the Small Things-July 12, 2019

It's Friday! Let's Celebrate the Small Things with Lexa Cain! I am her co-host.

I'm sorry I didn't post last Friday. It was a busy week. We had Independence Day celebrations to attend. My husband also had a birthday last weekend, as well. I baked him a funfetti cake. Yes, my husband's favorite type of cake is funfetti, and it turned out delicious.

The whole family has been dealing with an annoying cold this week, but the good news is that we're all recovering well. The kids certainly haven't let it take away from their summer fun.

I had a bit of inspiration this week, and that resulted in me writing a short story. I've been struggling with writer's block for months, so it felt great to write something and enjoy the process of it again.

What would you like to celebrate?

The Insecure Writer's Support Group-July 3, 2019

It's the first Wednesday of the month, and that means it's time to convene another meeting of The Insecure Writer's Support Group! Alex J. Cavanaugh has assembled another wonderful group of co-hosts: Erika Beebe, Natalie Aguirre, Jennifer Lane, MJ Fifield, Lisa Buie-Collard, and Ellen @ The Cynical Sailor.

Be sure to check out the IWSG website for great writerly resources!

The optional question for this month is: What personal traits have you written into your character(s)?

While I try not to make any of my characters into carbon copies of me, I can't help but sprinkle certain aspects of my personality into them every once in awhile. I tend to write about introverts a lot. I also enjoy writing stories about creative types like writers and artists. Maybe that's because writing about other people engaging in the creative process helps me understand how my own creativity works. It helps me relate to my characters.
