Express Yourself: Winter Getaway

The Express Yourself Weekly Meme is hosted by Jackie @ Bouquet of Books and Dani @ Entertaining Interests.  Each week bloggers are given a question to ponder and answer for the blogging world.

This weeks query: What is your dream winter getaway?

I'm not the biggest fan of winter.  I live in Iowa (in the Northern quarter too), and I've always lived in this state.  Believe me, I've seen plenty of snow in my life, and to be honest, I could be quite happy if I never saw it again.  As a kid, I enjoyed it, but I grew out of that.  As an adult, I see something wet and sloppy that gets tracked in and messes up my floors. I see something that's a pain to drive in.  It's pretty for a few days, but then it starts to turn all kinds of colors that look anything but picturesque.  Of course, since I live in Iowa, I have to expect snow, though we've gotten very little of it so far this year. We got our first snowfall of the year this weekend, in fact, and the dusting was so light we could still see the grass afterwards.

So, I'd like to have a tropical winter.  I'd like to put lights up on a palm tree for Christmas.  I'd love to have a good Christmas meal on the deck next to the beach, and wash it all down with a piña colada.  Then I'd like to round the night off with a fireworks display.  Why?  Because fireworks are an awesome way to celebrate anything.

I think I'd stay on my tropical getaway for the whole winter if I could.  As long as I had my family with me.

  3. I'm the opposite. I'd fry in five minutes on a beach. I don't deal with the heat very well. I'd love to spend a week up in a cabin on a mountain in the winter. I'd love to live in a cabin on a mountain!

  4. That reminds me I need a vacation.

  5. I live on a snow-filled farm filled with sheep, poultry and barn cats that need my constant attention. What would I possibly want to get away for? (And how many resort hotels wouldn't mind if I brought the whole gang into my room?)

  6. Take your family??? What kind of vacation would that be? Just kidding. I can;t stand being alone for very long, even if everyone in the house is making noise and such.
