It's time once again for the Express Yourself Weekly Meme with Jackie @ Bouquet of Books and Dani @ Entertaining Interests.
What are some of your favorite author quotes?
I have a lot of favorites, but since this is asking for only a few, I chose these.
"It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might has well not have lived at all, in which case you have failed by default."
-J. K. Rowling
"It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see."
-Henry David Thoreau
"If knowledge can create problems, it is not through ignorance that we can solve them."
-Isaac Asimov
"Keep away from people who try to belitte your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you too can become great."
-Mark Twain
"The one thing that you have that nobody else has is you. Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision. So write and draw and build and play and dance and live as only you can."
-Neil Gaiman
Mark Twain was a wise man.
ReplyDeleteI like Neil Gaiman's.
ReplyDeleteI love great quotes. I tend to agree with Alex, Mark Twain's quote is a good one.
ReplyDeleteThese are great, L.G.! One of my favorite all-time quotes: “I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination. Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.”
ReplyDelete― Albert Einstein
I'm featuring you on my site, you talented, busy lady you, for Randi's 3 Ups! Whilst I polish up my post, is there a favorite song of yours I can add?
Cheers!
Sam
I have lots of favorite songs. It's hard to pick just one. I love "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica because it was the first song my husband and I danced to at our wedding. I also love "The Scientist" by Coldplay and "Simple Song" by The Shins.
DeleteThanks for sharing that Einstein quote. It's a great one!
Here you go, my dear, it was a pleasure meeting you! I look forward to following you along your "writerly" journey:)

ReplyDelete3 Up Blog Hop Featuring L.G. Keltner of Writing off the Edge
All excellent, we need these flashing across a screen in our brains instead of the negative crap that fills our days!
ReplyDeleteLovely -- now to create my screen. Thanks again for the 3ups. I'm still smiling!
I chose that Gaiman quote for my post, too. Love him.
ReplyDeleteI know he isn't a real writer, but Sean Connery's character from "Finding Forrester" had a great line: "No thinking - that comes later. You must write your first draft with your heart. You rewrite with your head. The first key to writing is... to write, not to think!"
